K3 Starter Curve Setup

PRE-MADE CURVES FOR COMMON TONING PROFILES

The same starter curves in the QuadToneProfiler-K3 version that can be used as-is or to create the base components for your custom .qtp files.

The shape of the pre-made starter curves are designed for easy linearization with the built-in tools, and allow them to be compatible with both the Stylus Pro and Sure Color printers. They do not require any manual calculation or the need to compile QTR-curves from ink descriptor files.

Now with a new feature to preview the toner color with output CIELAB values and on your image before printing.

Custom Curve Creation

Use the custom curve creation interface for setting the ink limits and the starting and ending overlaps separately for each channel. The partitioning formulas will automatically adjust and apply an initial correction curve when setting the limits, and balance the total ink load for additional overlap of adjacent channels.

Linearization Controls

The linearization tools allow for linearization with either 21, 51, 86, 101, 128, 129 or 256-step measurement data files. The behind the scenes formulas will interpolate the original data into 256 steps for the actual linearization calculations.

  • Built-in measurement data smoothing controls and manual error correction

  • Linear or manual output curve control

  • Preview the measured and corrected samples

  • Preview measured and corrected output on your image

  • Manually edit the output quad for additional adjustment or smoothing.

  • Export linearized QuadToneRIP .quad files or Photoshop .acv curve or LUT .cube file presets.

  • Export .qtpc component files to load into the Quad Blending or Profile Manager tools to quickly preview blended quads and print color

Custom Profile Toning

The new profile manager tool allows you to create special .qtp files that include the quad curves and measurements for up to 4 components and blend with the new component blending tool and preview the blending color as CIELab values or applied to one of your images.

The behind the scenes formulas use the color of the gray inks and the toned inks to produce the output hue for each step in the grayscale. This allows for easy or custom toning profiles or neutralizing the warmth of pure carbon inks using a mix of Cyan and Magenta inks, or to create K4 to K6 blends with CMY (or LC LM Y) that I now use.

The profile manager and blending tools can also be used with the PiezoPro ink sets by linearizing and measuring the Warm, Cool, and Neutral curves to create your own custom blends to save as presets and not require trial and error blending in the QTR print dialog window.

You can also linearize and measure the four the base CMYK components in the starter curve setup with your favorite papers to create the custom QTP profile to be able to preview the color with the influence of the tone and color of the paper base.

Color Tint Linearization

Uses the Spot Color Tone Correction formula to linearize the perceptual brightness and saturation for creating the CMY or custom color components ink jet prints profiles or the CMY color separations for multi-color gravure printing.

Quad Curve Blending

Quad Curve Blending Tools can blend any two quad curve files. The curve blending tool can also open and save .qtpc files that contain the measurements and quad curves to preview the color of the blend. There is also an option to automatically linearize the blended curves when opening .qtpc files.

Quad Curve Remapping

Easily swap or copy ink channels between to assign ink shades to different cartridge positions. This replaces the need to open a quad file in a text editor and copy and paste the 256 ink values between channels
